    Content Marketing Is No Joke

    Last updated 5 years ago

High quality content is the engine that drives not only a well-rounded SEO campaign but becomes the core of a successful online marketing venture. With the recent changes in the Google search algorithm (THINK Panda and Penguin updates), the company has decided to look more favorably upon freshly updated and semantically proper content. Gone are the days of repetitive keyword stuffing and spammy content delivery techniques. Article marketing plays a huge role in Google rankings as it provides a mechanism to enhance Google search ranks through relevant additions to the index.  Google is now focusing heavily upon original high quality content and with this push, content marketing is significantly more important than it was in previous years. Having a well-defined content marketing strategy is now crucial for everyone who wants to generate traffic from Google.

With the change in the marketing landscape on the web, there are many different mechanisms that will allow marketers and SEO specialists to deliver compelling content. This process is traditionally preempted by thorough keyword research. Marketers now have the ability to lean upon several different approaches. These include video, audio, and article directories. In conjunction with these methodologies it would be a disservice not to mention the impact of social media marketing and Web 2.0 properties. There are however some notable differences between social media marketing and content marketing. Social media marketing or SMM tends to have limitations dependent upon the available media. Take Twitter for example, marketers are traditionally restricted to 140 characters and must adjust their content or links accordingly. Focusing on content marketing however, the guidelines remain the same as before. Content creators must focus on creating fresh and useful content for their intended audiences.

Regardless of the distribution mechanism the core of the content must be centered on an affective tone and a consistent voice. It must speak to your audience, first, and the search engines second.  This can culminate in a call to action that will drive the readership to either sign up for a mailing list or buy a product. Traditionally, site owners and SEO firms utilize professionally written content when looking to bolster the media that they provide. This process is further accentuated by the appropriate sprinkling of relevant keywords. We have to understand the goal of the content is to inform and convince. We want the readership to become subscribers, members, or paying conversions and the quality of the crafted content to be of a nature that will afford it the opportunity to be highly indexed in Google. Most simply, the idea focuses around creating valuable information for our consumers. In addition to the more heavily utilized channels; we also have blogs, white papers, webcasts, and webinars to add to the mix. It is no secret that content marketing is a successfully utilized strategy by many Internet marketers across the web. With the recent changes in the Google indexing algorithm, it only reinforces the fact that this form of marketing will allow companies to build their brand and enhance customer loyalty. When you're looking to reach out to your public, generate leads or interest, and share relevant and useful information, content marketing is the key to your success in this arena.

Google Glasses: Coming Soon to a Store near You?

    Last updated 5 years ago

Google recently debuted Project Glasses or Goggle Glasses as they are more commonly known as, a project in the works for quite some times. Goggle Glasses are the latest futuristic prototype of Goggle’s R&D department and the interactive heads-up display glasses look to be nothing short of amazing. Google is keeping a tight rein on information about the project and is in the early development of the Google Glasses so don’t get you hope’s up, but they just might be coming to a store near you sometime in the future.

So what exactly are Goggle Glasses? Google Glasses are a heads-up display that works like a view screen on a pair of tech glasses. The glasses interact with a smartphone to give you all of the nifty little tools and gadgets of a top-of-the-line smartphone, but without having to use your hands at all. A user will be able to see everything from their Google Glasses that they would normally see on a smartphone screen like messages, phones calls, weather reports, memos, but they would also be able to see things like local up-to-date information such as public transit that’s been delayed or shut down, business information like maps of local stores, onboard camera and so forth.

The tech is similar to those futuristic VR glasses we used to see in the ‘80s, but so much cooler and so much more versatile. Google Glasses are still in their infancy, but the information already coming out is so tempting that it is clear that when they do finally go on the market they’ll be snapped up like hot cakes in no time at all.

Will you be first in line at Best Buy to get your pair of Google Glasses?

    Online Advertising Continues to Grow

    Last updated 5 years ago

The eMarketer experts say that online ad spending will continue to grow in the future, and this growth will be larger than even that of traditional media. Online ad spending in the search industry is set to keep its position as the largest part of online ad spending. Experts say that this will continue from 2010 until 2016. Online video ad spending is also growing. It started with a smaller base, so it will far surpass search online spending with a CAGR of 34.3 percent. All of these figures just go to show that online advertising is becoming more important to our consumers, and businesses are more willing to invest into online advertising than ever before.

So how can online advertising help you and your business?  If you’re not using online advertising right now, you are simply missing out. The online format is greatly influential today, and it is now often the form of advertisement that  consumers see most often. You need to grab the attention of those consumers because it is likely that they are your newest audience. Businesses are always wondering how to draw in the younger crowd, as well, and online advertising is one of the best (and only) ways to do so. The internet is where this new young audience lives, so visit them where they are most comfortable.  Makes sense, right?

Your online advertising will help set you apart from other businesses in your industry, especially if those other businesses are a little behind in the online game. Take a look at how other businesses in your industry have marketed themselves online. Look at what seems to be working but also read reviews of their work to see what they have done wrong. Learn by watching in order to avoid their mistakes. Also be sure to learn from what they do right, but don’t emulate it exactly. There is no use in completely copying anyone, and it is likely that it won’t fit exactly into your situation anyway. Put your own personal spin on things.

Make sure that you know how to leverage your online presence most effectively with the proper online advertising. It is not worth advertising online if you do not use the right kind of advertising for your specific audience. Do some research into the kinds of things that your customers want to see in advertisements. You are not a mind reader, so you will have to ask people to tell you exactly what they want to see. That is the only way that you can start to form the proper type of online advertising for your specific business.

Internet users are pickier than ever about the kind of online content that they consume. They have more options than ever before, so they can afford to be a little choosier about what they watch or read. Attention span has also decreased because of the vast amount of information that everyone is exposed to nowadays. You’ll have to use your online advertising in the most effective way possible in order to get your information out there before a viewer’s attention drifts somewhere else.

If you are not sure of how to make the most out of your online advertising, consider hiring an expert to help you out. It is their job to find your niche market and audience and then use it to their advantage. These professionals can help you figure out what kind of advertising you should be using and then put that advertising to work for you.

It’s okay to be a little confused about what kind of online advertising is best and what kind of advertising you should use. In the end, it’s important to know your audience and your potential customers. Know which parts of the internet they frequent. Know what they are attracted to and what they couldn’t care less about. This is the only way that you can make sure that your advertising is hitting the right audience. You don’t want to send the wrong message, and you don’t want to send the right message in the wrong direction, so be careful and do your research ahead of time.

Get educated about how you can use online advertising to your advantage. This is an era where almost everyone is using the internet in some respect, so you definitely need to become a part of that market. Whether you advertise through search engines, social media or online videos, you’ll find that this online advertising will help you reach more potential customers that never knew you existed before. You can market yourself directly to them, and they will have the entire internet at their disposal to check out how they feel about your business. Make sure you make the best first impression possible so that these consumer feel it’s necessary to take the additional step of searching for your business’s website.

Have you increased your online advertising investment this year compared to last?  Why or why not?

Gaining Attention with Social Media Marketing

    Last updated 5 years ago

If you do not know that social media marketing is the newest “big thing” in advertising, then maybe you have not been living on this planet for the past couple of years. Social media websites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn have absolutely exploded recently and their presence has changed the world forever. Social media threw advertising for a loop at first, but now more and more businesses are getting involved. They’re starting to understand how they can use social media marketing effectively to reach all kinds of people that they would never have a chance to reach before. If you are not using social media in your marketing strategy, then you are missing out on one of the best opportunities possible.

Social media is an everyday “habit” for young people. One of the first things they do when they wake up in the morning is immediately log onto Facebook or Twitter. They even have access on their phones, so you can reach this audience on this platform even when they are not browsing at home. It’s not just a market for young people either. The older generations are also noticing the benefits of social media and many of them log in daily to keep up with family, friends and celebrities just like their younger counterparts.

Take a hint from the rest of your peers. Consider how many marketing professionals in the U.S. have indicated that they will begin to spend more on social media marketing and advertisements:  79 percent. Businesses that do not use social media marketing are going to get left behind. If you cannot adapt to a new platform, then you simply fail in any business. Be flexible and willing to spend some time using this new area in advertising.

By dividing the number of people on the planet by the number of Facebook users, we can tell that one out of nine people in the world use Facebook. That is a giant percentage! If you don’t use Facebook at all for your business, then you are losing out on that potential marketplace. Facebook users are more likely to check for a business’s Facebook Page whenever they become interested in that business. If you don’t have one of these pages, you might lose their interest. A Facebook Page is a way of connecting with your audience on a deeply personal level. You can respond directly to their concerns and can offer information to those who are actively looking for you.

If you are not using social media marketing appropriately, then you are simply  missing out on a high percent of your audience. All kinds of businesses nowadays have Facebook Pages or post tweets on Twitter. It is easy to sign up and get involved, so why not start immediately? Sure, it will take some time to design the right page and think about what you’re going to say.  But remember that it is important to get out there in the social media marketing scene as soon as possible.

How can you get involved with social media marketing? Start by making a Facebook Page and Twitter account. You can also get involved in other sites such as LinkedIn, MySpace, GooglePlus+, DeviantArt, LiveJournal or Pinterest. If you are not familiar with all of these websites, take a look at each one now. Maybe not all of them are appropriate for your type of business, but you can definitely pick and choose a couple from the list. You should be marketing on multiple social media websites in order to get the most out of this experience.

Do not make some common social media marketing mistakes. Remember that everything you say is now documented and accounted for. Be careful with your words and be kind to all of your potential customers. A good personality can go a long way. Watch out for offensive jokes, especially in your tweets through Twitter. It is easy to start thinking that the people following you understand and are supportive of anything that you do, but that is simply not the case. Be careful of anything that could offend anyone, unless that’s what you truly aim to do.

Learn from other businesses’ social media marketing. It is likely that a business in your industry already has a social media page. Check it out to make notes about what you like and don’t like. If you still cannot figure out how to get involved, there are social media marketing professionals that can help you if you are feeling lost. Of course, they do charge fees like everyone else, but they can be a lifesaver if you truly do not know what you are doing.

ReachCast is ReachLocal's award winning solution for business owners who wish to outsource their web presence optimization (Search Engine Optimization, Social Media and Reputation Management rolled into one) to trained experts in the field of Internet Marketing.

In the end, it is important that you take advantage of this rapidly growing way of online marketing. Be sure to keep up with your social media marketing in order to properly reach all of your potential audience. Get involved before you get left behind.

Do you have a Social Media plan in action?  What is your Facebook or Twitter page?  Do you find it hard to attract fans to both pages?  Who or why not?
