Today, I’d like to discuss an important and FREE online marketing tip for your medical practice, whether you’re a plastic surgeon or dentist: you must claim your business listing on Google. Why? If you don’t claim your practice on Google, then Google will just take whatever information it can find online and create a listing for you. Easy enough, right? Wrong. How come? If Google creates your business listing for you, then your listing may not contain completely relevant information and therefore give a false impression of your practice. What’s worse is that people can easily edit unclaimed listings and negatively affect your online reputation as well. And having a poorly represented listing on Google won’t help your online marketing efforts any bit. Hence, the real easy way is to do it yourself…
Online Marketing with Google Places
The good news is claiming your listing on Google is actually pretty easy. Here are the simple steps to claim your listing today:
- Go to http://www.google.com.
- Click on “Maps” at the top of the page.
- Search by your business name. After you’ve found it, click on your business link.
- If your listing hasn’t been claimed yet, you will see the “Business?” link. Click on that link and then you start editing your Google Places Page.
The added value of claiming your business listing and having a Google Places Page is free advertising of your business on Google. It’s time to take control of your company’s message and provide yet another possibility for potential patients to find your practice.
Have you claimed your business listing on Google yet? If not, how will you make your Google Places Page stick out from your competitors?
