This post is Part 3 of a 4 blog series dedicated to the new SEO, Social Media and Reputation Management platform launched by ReachLocal.

Today’s focus will be the Social Media aspect of ReachCast.  ReachCast combines a proprietary technology platform with an expert service team to help SMBs build and optimize their Web presence for the purpose of driving online search discovery, powering reputation management, and managing social media marketing.

Social Media, Social Media, Social Media!  It’s the buzz word.  We see it in all the commercials.  Even Katie Couric tells you to follow CBS Evening News on Facebook and Twitter.  So what exactly is social media and how can it help your business both short term and long term?  Think of social media like a tea kettle.  As we continue to add new content on Facebook and Twitter for you, the water in the kettle starts to heat up.  More and more content and the water gets hotter and hotter.  Then there becomes a point in time where all of that online content finally boils over, changing the once quiet tea kettle into a whistling like mad megaphone that gains a lot of attention. 


That is your Social Media strategy.  At first little happens.  You have no followers, no content, and no social media pages but then you add and add and add.  More and more potential customers that are local find you and your messages.  They pay attention to what you say.  They share what you say with others that they know.  They are receptive to your message.  They trust you.  They buy from you.  This is an asset that continues to grow and build to the point where it takes on a life of its own and starts growing exponentially by the actions of your followers.  This IS THE POWER OF SOCIAL MEDIA!
