1) Testing Continues - Google is now testing algorithms to determine how much content vs. ads are above the fold on the page, and this may be an increasingly significant factor in Google page rankings in the near future.
2) Page Speed - Matt Cutts, Google’s head of Webspam team, recently discussed how Google defines page speed:
You will notice page speed probably doesn’t play a huge significance on your page rankings, but it is something to bear in mind.
3) Clarity – Google plans to be more open about their algorithm updates and announce these updates as they occur.
4) Mobile Ad Performance – Having a mobile optimized site affects whether your mobile ads will do well (or not). According to David Nachum, Associate Product Manager at Google, “ads that have mobile optimized landing pages will tend to perform better…they will generally drive more mobile traffic at a lower cost” (Crum).
