Celebs "Virtually" Die For Charity

Last updated 7 years ago

Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Usher and Alicia Keys all stopped using Social Media to "connect" with their fans in order to raise a million dollars for Key's Charity.

"The group of celebrities had asked fans to donate to Keys’s Keep a Child Alive organization to revive their Internet() presences. But by Monday — six days later — they were only halfway to $1 million and itching to get back on Twitter() and Facebook(). In fact, Usher, “revived” his Twitter presence before the campaign had technically ended. Apparently, the celebrities were more than a little let down by their followers."

Here is a good question - why didn't these uberRICH celebrities match the donations that they asked their fans to make?  What is also comical to me is how unreceptive their online followers truly were when it came to donating money to their cause.  The final $500k had to be pulled from Stewart Rahr, a Brooklyn-based billionaire pharmaceutical exec.

But when its all said and done, $1,000,000 for anyone's charity is nothing to make light of.  Having said that, how much can we donate to make sure these celebs never hold their fans hostage again with the threat or act of not Tweeting or Updating their Facebook Fan pages?
