Google Gets Into The Beer Business

Last updated 7 years ago

BEER and GOOGLE. Intriguing, right? This blog gives me great pleasure because I get to talk about two things I like a lot – Google and Dogfish Head Brewery. Dogfish Head is my favorite craft beer company from the small state of Delaware. Their motto “off-centered ales for off-centered people” pretty much sums their target consumer very well. Like Google’s “don’t be evil” motto, Dogfish makes craft beer that is unique, bold and delicious. In a world of ordinary, their nectars are out of this world.

Their newest creation URKontinent is a Belgian Dubbel style beer with flavors from five different continents.   A Google spokesperson sums the initial process quite well:

We encourage our employees to pursue their interests—whether they are training for a marathon, inviting their favorite author to speak, or creating the perfect cafe latte. Similarly, the project with Dogfish Head brewery was a Googler-driven project organized by a group of craftbrewery aficionados across the company. While our Googlers had fun advising on the creation of a beer recipe, we aren’t receiving any proceeds from the sale of the beer and we have no plans to enter the beer business.”

If you are a fan of this brewery or just intrigued at some of the Google company culture that would get behind such an idea of a Google/Dogfish collaboration beer, check out this video:

Right now it’s on tap at their Rehobeth Brewpub and soon to be bottled.

Have you heard of Dogfish Head Brewery? What do you think of their off-centered offerings? Do you think Google could be the largest brewery in the world if they wanted to?  Would you order a Google over Bud at a ballpark?  I hope you would.
