Are you thinking about creating a Twitter account for your business? It is a great idea, hence why I have called this blog post, "Twitter Marketing 102." You can read Twitter Marketing 101 here http://alanmoore.ca.st/230226/2011/09/15/twitter-marketing-101.html.
Now let's begin. Luckily for your Twitter marketing efforts, a market research firm called Lab42 fielded a survey to find out how 500 Twitter users use the service, how they decide who to follow, and more. Check out the infographic (which shows the survey results visually):
1) Twitter users tend to access the service multiple times per day.
2) Twitter users often tweet more than once a day.
3) Twitter users generally determine who to follow based on friends suggestions.
4) Twitter users typically follow companies/brands because they want to get discounts.
Although this survey questioned 500 Twitter users, this information provides a starting point for your Twitter marketing strategy. Twitter is an awesome social media tool for spreading the news about upcoming promotions because that is exactly what Twitter is meant for: tweeting. And when you tweet about a discount or special offer, you are likely to get noticed. Never forget this: consumers are online everywhere and they may not find you through your website alone. Our friends have a major influence on our decisions, even on social media sites like Twitter.
