Pew Research Center’s Internet and American Life Project recently released a report on social networking usage.  Take a look:

You will notice in 2005, only 8% of online adults used social networking sites.

Key Take-Aways:

1) 65% of adult Internet users use social networking sites like Facebook and LinkedIn.

2) On a typical day, 43% of adults use social networking sites.

The age breakdown:

* 18 to 29 year olds - 83% use social networking sites

* 30 to 49 year olds - 70%

* 50 to 64 year olds - 51%

* For 65+ year olds - 33%

It is understandable that the younger demographic (18 to 49 year olds) is actively occupied on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, but it is interesting to see the rising curiosity of the Baby Boomers.
