Does your business use Twitter for its social media marketing efforts? If so, how well do you know the average American Twitter user? Find out more below...
Earlier this year (July 2011), Polaris, a full-service marketing research company, conducted a survey to better understand the online behavior of U.S. Twitter users. What did they find?
1) 18% of American Twitter users had sent a tweet in the last 60 days.
2) 22% of U.S. Twitter users read a tweet in the past 2 months (compare this finding with #1 above. The numbers are pretty close, huh?)
3) 18 to 34 year olds are considered the active age group.
4) Particularly, Hispanics are generally more active compared to other ethnicities:
If your target market is 18 to 34 year old Hispanic adults, it is in your BEST interest to promote your company through Twitter. This demographic group is most likely to send and read tweets; therefore, they will almost certainly see your brand and its message. Think of it like this: when you are sitting with your friends, it is much more enjoyable to start the conversation rather then come in the middle of it. When you join a conversation that has already started, you feel lost and confused. This same logic applies to social media marketing: begin the conversation and let it flow from there.
Is your company active on Twitter? If not, then what are you waiting for?
