The Rising Adoption of Social Media Marketing

Local business owners are always looking for diverse ways to promote their business and acquire more customers.  From an April 2011 study, Pitney Bowes found that U.S. SMBs (small and medium sized businesses) choose social media marketing because it is cost-effective (54%) and easy to use (53%).

Here are some additional findings from Pitney Bowes:

One BIG take-away from the study: 30% of SMBs are starting to implement social media marketing because of their competitors (eMarketer).

Which marketing tactic was most widely adopted within the past year?  You guessed it.  Social media marketing.  And which social media site do business owners use the most?  According to Constant Contact in April 2011, Facebook was listed as the most widely used site.  It was rated the most effective as well.
